Hemodynamic collapse due to the stenosis of four pulmonary veins in a patient with mediastinal tumor
Cardiogenic shock can occur due to compression of the four pulmonary veins and the left atrium by a mediastinal tumor. Steroid infusion can be a temporary alternative therapy before obtaining a definite diagnosis and performing an intervention with stents to dilate the pulmonary veins.
متن کاملProne Position Effects in the Treatment of Covid-19 Patients
Prone positioning is a conventional method to enhance oxygenation in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) patients who need mechanical ventilator . It is proven that oxygenation is significantly more beneficial in prone position compared to the supine position. Furthermore, numerous evidences have confirmed that prone positioning could prevent lung injuries caused by ventilators

متن کاملBiomechanical simulations of scoliotic spine correction due to prone position and anaesthesia prior to surgical instrumentation.
BACKGROUND The positioning of patients during scoliosis surgery has been shown to affect the scoliosis curve, yet positioning has not been exploited to help improve surgical outcome from a biomechanics point of view. Biomechanical models have been used to study other aspects of scoliosis. The goal of this study is to simulate the specific influence of the prone operative position and anaesthesi...
متن کاملCyberKnife robotic spinal radiosurgery in prone position: dosimetric advantage due to posterior radiation access?
CyberKnife spinal radiosurgery suffers from a lack of posterior beams due to workspace limitations. This is remedied by a newly available tracking modality for fiducial-free, respiration-compensated spine tracking in prone patient position. We analyzed the potential dosimetric benefit in a planning study. Fourteen exemplary cases were compared in three scenarios: supine (PTV=CTV), prone (PTV=CT...
